Position: Music Program Assistant
Timeline: October 19 – Feb 4th (Winter Break from Dec 14 – Jan 3)
Working Hours: 10hrs/week (afterschool/evening) + 1 Saturday per month
Rate of pay: $10/hr
Program Description
One World: Glendower is a music/recording program conceptualized and designed in its entirety by youth from the L’Amoreaux and Steeles area. This will run as an intensive 12 week program where participants will learn about music production, musical technique and the basics of the music industry. The program seeks to support youth in their creative expression as well as build skills and confidence. The program will culminate in each participant having a single original recording and a final live performance by the group.
Job Description
Youth Program Assistant will help to support the Program Manager and the Program Participants throughout the 12 week program in a variety of areas, technical, group development and administrative. The Program Assistant will also help to ensure that the space where the program takes place is an inviting, safe and productive environment by being a positive addition to the space.
Job Duties
Supporting the Program Manager by:
- Arriving 1hr prior to program and departing 1hr after program to help load and unload equipment
- Assisting with artist/guest hospitality
- help to liase and book faciltators
- General on site support for facilitating artists
- Encouraging participant engagement, helping to provide technical assistance during working sessions where possible, providing constructive positive feedback.
- Assisting with some administrative tasks related to the program
Skill Set Required:
- Organized and Punctual
- Able to work collaboratively with other youth
- Professional working demeanor when interacting with participants, guests/artists.
- Displays leadership and feels comfortable leading small groups (if requested)
- Confident, adaptable to change
- Problem Solver – is able to view a situation from many angles
- Previous experience working with youth
- Previous experience with Pro Tools, Cubase or another music recording software
- A passion for music (any and all kinds)
- A passion for creating positive social change
- Previous music, theatre or stage production experience considered an asset.
