Art Starts celebrates the launch of large-scale outdoor photographs documenting young residents of the Villaways neighbourhood.

TORONTO, ONTARIO (June 25, 2009) – Art Starts is proud to celebrate the launch of Look Up, Live Large –a series of large-scale photo installations mounted throughout the Villaways neighbourhood– with a block party Wednesday July 1st, from 4-7pm. The event will feature tour maps for self-guided viewing of the photo installations. Collaborating children and youth will be on hand to answer questions and provide insights.

Look Up: Look Here is the culmination of six weeks of workshops with renowned artist Dan Bergeron and the children and youth of Art Starts’ Villaways Art Studio. Villaways is a Toronto Community Housing Neighbourhood perched on the edge of the East Don Ravine and largely invisible to the surrounding community. Bergeron worked with participants to create a series of straight-talking images ranging from life-sized to building-sized reflecting on sense of community, sense of play and sense of self.
