Art Starts launches the third phase of the Glendower Mosaic Project created and conceptualized by 5 youth, facilitating artists Red Pepper Spectacle Arts along with The Glendower Community.

SCARBOROUGH, ONTARIO (August 8th, 2009) – Art Starts is proud to celebrate the launch of Phase 3 of the Glendower Mosaic Project with a bbq/ribbon cutting ceremony. The event will feature performances by Scarborough’s own Simply Swagg dance crew, a ribbon cutting ceremony and community BBQ. The artists will be on hand to answer questions and provide insights into the mosaic.

The giant mosaic, built around a basketball court, is the culmination of four weeks of work by five youth artists and lead artists Red Pepper Spectacle Arts. The mosaic titled “Remembering Where We Come From – Knowing Where We’re Going”, explores themes of cultural reflection and revolution and features depictions of prominent role models, raised fists, inspirational sayings and Chinese characters .
