The School of Rap – Program and Release Party

Art Starts in partnership with Montage Support Services created a program that resulted in the release of Visionists – Oakwood-Vaughan’s first-ever community hip hop CD – with a FREE block party that took place on Sunday, May 31 ’09 with musical and break-dancing performances and a live DJ.

Visionists is the work of seven disabled and able-bodied young emerging rappers between the ages of 10-31. They all came together for the ten-week School of Rap program, exploring the history of hip-hop culture and developing song-writing and performance skills under the mentorship of one of Canada’s greatest lyricists, Dan-e-o.
